Bone Mineral Density in Childhood Study (BMDCS)
The Bone Mineral Density in Childhood Study (BMDCS) is designed to collect normative growth and bone density measurements in children five to twenty-one years old. Each child will be assessed at seven time points: Baseline and at six consecutive annual follow-up visits. These data will be used to develop standard reference data as a tool to diagnose children at risk for osteoporosis. The study is a longitudinal multicenter study with more than 1500 children enrolled at five Clinical Sites. Equal numbers of male and female children spanning all ethnic groups have been enrolled.
