National Standard for Fetal Growth Study (NFGS)  is a prospective observational study to: (1) establish a U.S. national standard for normal fetal growth (velocity) and size for gestational age; (2) create an individualized standard for optimal fetal growth; and (3) improve accuracy of fetal weight estimation.  This study will recruit 2,400 healthy low risk pregnant women and 600 obese women in the first trimester of pregnancy.  Subjects will be followed through pregnancy.

The NFGS has received an ARRA award, and the funds were distributed in September 2010.  As part of this award, the enrollment of twin pregnancies will commence in January 2011.  Currently C-TASC staff are developing the data collection forms for the twins, updating the MOO, and extending the data management system.  Annual site visits to existing sites will commence in November 2010.  Site visits to the new sites will tentatively commence in April 2011.
